Short synopsis : An epic tale of love, perseverance, flight and the challenges of making the right choices in a turbulent world, from legendary director Hayao Miyazaki.

Long synopsis : Inspired by legendary aircraft designer Giovanni Caproni, Jiro dreams of designing and flying his own magnificent planes. But bad eyesight dashes his dreams of becoming a pilot, and instead he devotes himself to engineering, rapidly becoming one of the greatest aeronautical inventors the world has ever known. The Wind Rises tells the story of his life, the events that influenced him profoundly (the 1923 Kanto earthquake, the great Depression, Japan’s role in World War 2…) and the great loves and deep friendships that marked him, in a portrait of an extraordinary man who led aviation into a new era.
